IPTV on an LG smart TV: apps and setup
LG TVs run webOS, so Android players like TiviMate aren't available. Install a player from the LG Content Store, such as IBO Player, and add your playlist through its website. A Firestick plugged into the TV is the easy alternative.
Step-by-step setup
LG’s webOS is smooth and easy to use, but it doesn’t run Android apps. That rules out TiviMate and the Android version of IPTV Smarters Pro. You can still watch IPTV directly on the TV with a webOS player, or add a small streaming device.
Install a player from the LG Content Store
-
Open the LG Content Store
Press the Home button on the remote, open the LG Content Store (sometimes simply called Apps), use search and type the player’s name, for example IBO Player. Select Install.
-
Note the MAC address
Open the app. It displays a MAC address, often with a device key. Take a photo of the screen.
-
Add your playlist online
On your phone or computer, open the player’s official website, enter the MAC address and add your M3U link or Xtream Codes details. The IBO Player guide shows each screen.
-
Reopen the app
Close the app completely and open it again. Channels and the TV guide load from your playlist.
Or add a Firestick
A Firestick or an Android TV box plugged into the LG gives you every Android player, including TiviMate. If you have an older LG, or you want the best TV guide, it’s the simpler route. For other brands, see our general smart TV guide.
Recommended apps
-
IBO Player
A common choice on recent LG TVs. Free trial, then a paid activation. Your playlist is added on its website using the TV's MAC address.

Other webOS players
Apps such as Smart IPTV, SS IPTV or Duplex Play work in a similar way. Availability depends on your TV's model year and country.

Common problems
- Can't find the app in the LG Content Store
- Check that your TV is connected and its software is up to date, then search again. On older models some players simply aren't offered; a Firestick solves that.
- Playlist added online but nothing shows
- Make sure you used this TV's MAC address, then close the app fully (or switch the TV off at the wall for a minute) and reopen it.
- Stuttering picture
- Use the Ethernet port if your TV has one, or move the router closer. LG's Wi-Fi is fine for HD but struggles at a distance. Read the guide
